About
This website houses the "Global Comedy Screenwriting Guidelines" created as part of a PhD study at the University of Central Lancashire titled...
LOST IN TRANSLATION
The role of the screenwriter in adapting film comedy elements for unified global reception.
...which explores how comedy elements may not be received as intended by the screenwriter by audiences from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This study focuses on the case study of British comedy in South Korea, however, the resulting guidelines can aid in highlighting issues and areas of concern for screenwriters aiming to write comedy for international audiences.
This website, along with the aforementioned Guidelines, aims to share interesting links and further research on the broader subject area for users to explore various elements and ideas highlighted on this site (and in the study) further!
